Michael Read is a defender and is well known for his hand in spreading Buce to the earlier members of the Front Team. Off the field, he is known for being one of the most controversial Buce players of his time.

History

Read was introduced to Buce in 2008, and then spent his time unifying enough players in his group to create the Front Team. After the 2008 Buce League, Read pushed along with the organisation of the 2009 Buce League, and helped form two teams from his former Front team; The Gritz and The Hawks. Read was captain of the latter.

In what was a slow start, Read's Hawks fought throughout the competition to make it into the Grand Final against The Avalanches. Despite a thrilling Double Buce by his supporting teammate Andrew Shakespeare, The Hawks fell to the Avalanches.

Soon after the loss, Read was arrested in Amsterdam, where, pending extradition, he waited for 6 months, missing the 2009 Winter Buce League, despite his team playing on under Nick Allan's wing. Read made his return to Buce for the 2010 Buce League as reinstated captain of The Hawks. He is expected to captain again during the 2011 Buce League, after the cancellation of the 2010 Winter League.

Michael Read was the most controversial player of his time, noted for his distinctively racist comments, high level of drug/alcohol abuse, abusing his teammates (including stealing their wages) and even engaging in slavery at his villa in Hawaii.
