2009W Leaguenav The Winter Buce League is a 2009 event which started in mid 2009. The rules were the same as the 2009 Buce League except the O.B square was increased by 80cm and the limit of players per team on the field was limited from 5 to 4. :See also: Winter Buce League Trial Matches (2009) :See also: 2009 Winter Buce League Awards ==League Results== {| cellpadding="2" border="3" |- style="background-color:#C0C0C0;" ! This season, the team was captained by Charlie Rogers. The Avalanches were also the eventual winners of the Winter 2009 League. The players in The Avalanches were: *Ashley Everson *Jacob Dawes *Nick Cherrie *Charlie Rogers *Rick Osman ==The Sunflowers== The Sunflowers were essentially the 2009 Buce League's Sonic Force Buce Club, re-entered by Guy Bevan and under a different name. Guy Bevan gave Lewis Freeland the captaincy and took up a coaching role in the team while still playing. Toby Travalos had been dropped after heavy team restructuring to put their team in the best position after last league's result. The Sunflowers consisted of: *Tim Murdoch *Guy Bevan *Lewis Freeland *Alec Forbes *Joel Steele ==The Hawks== The Hawks merged with The Gritz this league, after crucial player exports like Michael Read and Wilson Leung left both teams without sufficient numbers of regular players. Nick Allan is captained the Hawks throughout the Winter League, and Michael Read played one match on his return to Newcastle after serving his jail sentence in Holland. A number of other ex-Hawks and rookies have donned the Hawks colours towards the end of the Winter League as uni holidays commenced. The Hawks lineup in descending order of number of games played: *Nick Allan *Mitch Furner *Laurie Jones (Injured early in season, missed majority) *Daniel Herd *Daniel Carr *Samuel Curley *Tim Abel *Andrew Shakespeare *Mandeep Anand *Phillip Chow ==Team Blek== Team Blek have also returned for the 2009 Winter League. Co-captain Gus Bevan, who missed the 2009 Buce League, has returned from his competition in the USA to play with his local team. Hamish Rogers took the position as other Co-captain. Team Blek was composed of: *Hamish Rogers *Angus Bevan *Nick Scott *Liam Steele *Zac Maytom *Callan Wrightson ==The Scourge== Led by controversial player Theo Rogers, the aptly named Scourge were a group of disgruntled junior players that had hoped to win the League in their first ever season. Of their outspoken catchphrases, their most common ones are "We are going to destroy the Avalanches" and "Evie will never make it into the Double Buce Club." The Scourge are the youngest team to ever enter a Buce league. The Scourge's playing roster included: *Theo Rogers *Jackson "you touched it last" Cowan *Alex Rutherford *Flynn Comerford *Jake Herington *Tom Mudge *Martin Franke *Noah Church *Callum Howes *Connor O'leary ==Novice Strike Force== Novice Strike Force were a group of hopefuls that loved the game of Buce and the social aspect of the competition. Led by Quad Team dropout and long-time fan Lachlon Willis, the team was comprised mainly of ex- Quad Team players, as well as SFBC dropout Toby Travalos. NSF aimed to be the team for any players who are new to the game of Buce, and were wishing to hone their skills. However, their virtually all-rookie team roster, combined with lack-lustre match attendance, ensured that they were firmly rooted to the bottom of the ladder. The team was made up of: *Lachlon Willis *Emily Thrower *Dane McMahon-Squires *Toby Travalos *Jarrod Jones *Sam Swinburn ==The Toecutters== The seniors team, founded for this league and led by prominent ex-Blek player Keith Rogers, had high hopes for a future in Buce. Full of over-35 year old players, this team relied on their teamwork and slightly aggressive playing style to carry themselves to third place by the conclusion of the league. The Toecutters players were: *Drew Cowen *Keith Rogers *Glenn Everson *Matthew Hair *Krammers *Gordon Patrick
