At the start of the 2009 Buce League, Curley was signed up to The Gritz, where he surprisingly was given the role of Captain. There he became the 4th top scorer in the comp, making him the highest scoring player for not only The Gritz, but the entirety of the Front Team player-base.
As with most Gritz members, Sam joined The Hawks in the 2009 Winter Buce League, sporting only minimal gametime due to other commitments. His brother was reported to have also played a game with The Hawks in that time.
