Red Squadron are a group of Buce players at Merewether High School. Similar to Team Blek they are the class of Year 12, 2010, and inhabit the same group area, immediately sparking a fierce rivalry between the two teams upon the inception of their first incarnation, Neutral Creeps, reminiscent of the infamous Quad Team/Front Team rivalry. Red Squadron are currently inactive until the 2010 Winter League, in which they will be competing, after missing out on the 2010 Buce League.

A team vote was called on March 5th, 2010 on whether or not to change the team name from Neutral Creeps to Red Squadron, ending with a result of 4 for (Tre Clifford, Ben Wilson, Jayden Coventry and Joey Freeland) 1 undecided (Ethan Smith) and 1 against (David Hicks).

At one point, inside sources claimed unrest amongst star player Tre Clifford and co-captain Ben Wilson alongside rumors that Tre Clifford may break off to form his own team. All conflict was soon resolved however, and after much bro-cuddling, Tre returned to his home in Red Squadron.

In late May 2010, a crisis arose when Ethan Smith and David Hicks left the team under mysterious circumstances, however this hole was soon filled with one-time Blek player and long time fan of the sport Jaxon Ireland, and unknown newcomer Noah Scotti, both originally scouted for the breakaway team, with the co-captain spot being filled by Tre Clifford.

Unfortunately, since early December of 2010, the future of Red Squadron looks bleak as Ben Wilson left to captain a fledgling buce team in Sydney, Joey Freeland left to persue a football career and Noah Scotti withdrew from the team for personal reasons, leaving Tre Clifford no choice but to revive his plans for a separate team under his own leadership. These leave Red Squadron disbanded de facto, unless new captain Jaxon Ireland can rebuild the team.

Lineup[edit]

  • Jaxon "Cowgirl" Ireland. Having proven himself as capable in the first round of the 2010 Buce League with Blek, this behemoth brings the average height of Red Squadron to a bit over six foot, rivaling that of the original Giants. Named captain by the former team leaders after Red Squadron's breakdown.

Trivia[edit]

  • Co-captain Ethan Smith was originally a member of Team Blek, but unforeseen complications prevented his appearance on the court.
  • Red Squadron is as of yet the only team to have a regularly appearing cheer squad, led by Tully Hambridge.
  • Team colours of Red and Black originated out of the absence of differently coloured clothing in the possession of team members.
  • As Red Squadron were not able to compete in the 2010 Buce League, Tre Clifford and Joey Freeland took roles in other teams for the competition, in Team Blek and Snowflowers respectively.
  • Originally dubbed Neutral Creeps as a parody of The Scourge, the name was changed to Red Squadron (from a mutual love of Star Wars) to avoid constant association with the rival team.
