The Guy Bevan "Stray Dog" Award is an individually sponsored award which celebrates the worst player of any given Buce League. Although being deemed a form of player harassment the award has been approved by the FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Buce Association) as it encourages improvement of individual players and thus positively effects the playing skill of the Buce Leagues

History

The award dates back to the original Buce league but has only gained notoriety since being transformed into a formal award. Guy Bevan formalised the award for the 2009 Winter Buce League claiming; "The Award Ceremonies are a sham in which rightful players lose awards to those who have been typecast into a position by previous unrelated Buce games."

Qualifying and Rules

The award is a perpetual, opinion-based award in which the previous winner of the award decides in an autocratic manner who is deserving of the "Guy Bevan "Stray Dog" Award". The award cannot be won by voting nor popular opinion. To qualify for the "Guy Bevan "Stray Dog" Award" a player must show a gross lack of skill in most areas of Buce and convince the previous winner that he/she is worthy of this award.

Rules pertaining to the passing of the award are very simple:

  • The winner may not select the player who passed him the award during the next league
  • The award may not be passed to a player who has not played at least 70% of the league
  • Traditionally the award must be presented at the Awards Ceremony and be accompanied by a speech by the previous winner
  • The sponsor of the award may declare a null pass and evoke the passing privileges if any of the rules are disregarded
