Construction These are the official rules of the game Buce, played in league matches or publicized matches. They are not enforceable in social matches. ==General Rules== *No one is to enter the out-of-bounds square surrounding the bin. If a player enters, or lands in the out-of-bounds area, and touches the hackeysack, a player, or inhibits the current play in any way, they are liable to concede a penalty to the other team, from the point where the player entered the square. *A serve is defined when a player starts the play of the game by kicking the hackeysack from their hands. This happens either to start the match, to continue the game where the other team dropped the hackeysack, or to restart when the other team placed the hackeysack outside the boundaries of the field. **A player who is serving the sack can not serve the sack to himself or score off the serve; the sack has to hit/go into the bin AFTER coming in contact with another player for the points to count. **No serve is to be kicked more than 6 metres in length from where the hackeysack lands. If this is breached, the other team will take a serve exactly from where the hackeysack breached the 6 metre limit of the original fouling serve. **When a player is serving, no other player is allowed to inhibit the serve until the hackeysack has been kicked by the server. This means, in more common situations, that the blocker is not allowed to kick away the hackeysack after the server has dropped the hackeysack, but before the server has actually kicked it (ie. mid serve). *A penalty is exactly like a serve, except there is no limit to how far the sack can be kicked (the 6 metre law does not apply). Also, any points scored directly from the penalty kick do apply, and are counted. The sack does not need to come into contact with another player prior to hitting the bin. **Note: The Double Point rule does not apply to penalties. *The sack may come in contact with any part of the body except the forearm and the hand. If this happens, it is a handball, and a penalty is awarded to the other team. If the hackeysack comes into contact with the bicep of a player, and would not normally hit that players body, then is is a handball. If it hits the players bicep when it would otherwise hit the players body, then it is not-intentional and is play on (for example: if the hackeysack hits a player from side on, into the bicep, but the sack would have hit the player's body anyway, it is play on, and a penalty is not awarded). *If a player stalls the sack, they cannot move with it, only pivot or pass it off. *When a team is serving, one member of the opposing team has a right to stand exactly where the hackeysack landed, in order to block the pass. It is the servers responsibility to move likewise to this rule, and step backwards (which is defined in relation to the server facing their attacking goal) a metre or two, in order to kick it over/around the player. **The server can not move to the side to kick, as the blocker can only stand where the sack landed. **Note: The 6 Metre Serving Rule applies from where the hackeysack landed, so stepping backwards will not inhibit the players' serving distance. ==Scoring== *If the hackeysack enters the bin off an opposing player, it is two points. *If the hackeysack touches the outside of the bin on the full and doesn't go in, it is one point. **If the hackeysack rolls and touches the bin not on the full, it is one point if it landed inside the O.B square on the full. Any other instance is not counted as a point. *If a buce or 1 pointer is scored from outside the double-point line, the points that the player earned is doubled. *The Double Point Rule does not apply for own points or own buces. ==Contact== The contact laws in Buce primarily go by two laws: *The Right of Position: Every Player has a right to the position they are on the field, and they have the right to maintain that position. That means if a player is standing in one spot and is about to receive the hackeysack, no other player has the right to push them off that position in an effort to get the hackeysack. Note that an intercept is not the same as pushing a player away from where they are standing before they receive the hackeysack. **Furthermore, if a player is running towards an uncontested hackeysack with the aim of gaining possession off it and an opposing player is in the way, that player has the right to stand there and block, because the opposing player has the right to that space in between the original player, and their desired destination. However, the blocking player has no right to move to the side and continue to screen the player who is simply trying to get to the hackeysack, because they despite the fact they may gain right to the area, they are not allowed to inhibit a player who is off the ball, simply to block their movement. This can not happen whilst both players are not in the play of the hackeysack. *Illegal contact can be described as contact that endangers a players safety, or contact that is intentionally made to inhibit a players movement, or control, in or outside the play. If two players are trying to gain control of the one sack, and kick each other, that is not illegal contact because they are both engaging in a situation to get the hackeysack, and as long as both players are engaging for the sole purpose of gaining possession of the hackeysack and not to inhibit a player.
