Jacob Dawes is an influencial [[Buce]] Player. Known as an all-rounder, Dawes specialises in both attack and defence. He is one of the tallest Buce players to have played the game.

Having not played Buce during the entire 2007 season and the [[2008 Buce League]], Jacob Dawes was asked to trial with [[The Quad Team]] lot long after the end of the 2008 Winter season. A representative AFL player and having never played the game before, Dawes astounded the Quad Team by scoring a [[Double Buce]] and outplaying most of the group for both attack and defence, before walking away from the sport to attend his prior commitments.

In the light of the [[2009 Buce League]], Dawes was overlooked entirely in the selection process and was later recruited by [[Charlie Rogers]], who was one player short of completing his team, [[The Avalanches]].

Starting slowly, Dawes completed the season having maintained his reputation as a skilled and intimidating Buce player. In the 2009 Buce League Grand Final, he lifted The Avalanches from a losing 4-1 scoreline to a winning 4-5 score against [[The Hawks]] with two buces, helping the Avalanches claim the win. In the [[2009 Winter Buce League]] he enforced his reputation further and once again took out Best Defender award at the [[2009 Winter Buce League Awards|2009 Winter Buce League Awards ceremony]].

Dawes' impact on the game is undeniable. He furthered [[Rick Osman]]'s impact in pushing the boundaries of Buce for tall, competitive players, and by 2009 teams found themselves recruiting tall, skilled players to have their "answer to Dawes". [[Tom Mudge]] and [[Daniel Carr]] are examples of these.
