==2009==

===2009 Buce League===
The [[2009 Buce League]] began in early 2009 and had 5 teams- a mixture of new and old players. Of the 5 teams, two of them were from the reigning league champions, the [[Quad Team]]: The two teams were the [[Sonic Force Buce Club]] and [[The Avalanches]]. Another two teams were from the [[Front Team]]- [[The Hawks]] and [[The Gritz]]. A team assembled from entirely new players, the [[E Team]], entered the league with a select team called [[Team Blek]].

The 2009 league held plenty of historical events. In the first round the world of Buce was shocked when the Sonic Force Buce Club- captained by high-profile player [[Guy Bevan]] lost to league newcomers Team Blek. The loss blew away expectations that the Quad Team would dominate the competition. However, the absence of [[Gus Bevan]]- captain of Team Blek- for the duration of the league, would have dire consequences on Blek's standing in the competition.

The Front Teams exceeded expectations by surpassing the Sonic Force Buce Club and Blek on the ladder and steadily progressing as players throughout the league- their 0-0 draw in the first round quickly became an inaccurate representation of their skill by the end of round 5. The growth of the up-and-coming players like [[Wilson Leung]], [[Michael Read]] (captain of Hawks), [[Nick Allan]], [[Mitch Furner]] and [[Sam Curley]] (captain of Gritz) certainly bolstered the competitive nature of The Hawks and The Gritz by the end of the competition. 

However, whilst Guy Bevan's Sonic Force Buce Club suffered criticism over their overall performance in the league, the other Quad Team group, The Avalanches, only conceded 7 points in the entire league. Marred by poor team turnouts and below-parr replacements, SFBC didn't manage to secure a respectable spot compared to its Quad counterpart.

The end of the ladder by round 5 held the Quad team, The Avalanches, on top, undefeated. Second and third were the Front Teams, Hawks and Gritz, respectively. Tieing last place were Blek and the Sonic Force Buce Club. The Grand Final was played on 3/1/09 between The Avalanches and The Hawks, and ended 4-8, with the Avalanches victorious. During the grand final, [[Andrew Shakespeare]] scored the 5th [[Double Buce]] to ever be scored- a first for a non-Quad Team player. The monumental achievement wrapped up an amazing year for the Front Team, in what may have otherwise been a disappointing loss in the grand final.

After the 2009 Buce League, the organiser of the Buce League, Charlie Rogers, was approached by the Newcastle regional chairman of the Australian Soccer Federation with an offer of formalising Buce through their association. The cost to play Buce sports would be larger, but would be covered through the same insurance as players of other foot sports, such as Soccer and Futsal. The game would be renamed 'Buce Football', in accordance with the code. Charlie turned down the offer.

===2009 Winter Buce League===
Soon after the end of the 2009 Buce League, the [[2009 Winter Buce League]] was planned, and kicked off at the start of May 2009. Some changes were made after analysis of the 2009 Buce League. The field was changed to 4v4 players instead of 5v5 and the size of the O.B square was changed from 2.1m wide to 2.9m wide, to stop scuffles around the square area. It also prevented larger players from being able to defend by simply having their foot held over the bin.

Of the veteran teams that maintained a position on the table ([[The Avalanches]], [[The Hawks]], [[Team Blek]] and [[The Sonic Force Buce Club]]), newcomers included [[The Scourge]], [[The Toecutters]] and [[Novice Strike Force]]. Guy Bevan renamed [[SFBC]] to [[The Sunflowers]] and re-entered it. Theo Rogers, younger brother of [[Charlie Rogers]], entered a team of representative basketballers, as [[The Scourge]], while [[The Toecutters]] was a seniors team of +35 year olds. [[Novice Strike Force]] was comprised of inexperienced new players, with little history in other sports.

By the end of the season, The Avalanches, The Sunflowers, The Toecutters and The Scourge made it into the semi finals (in those respective positions on the table), with Blek, Hawks and Novice Strike Force falling out of the top by the end of the season. After the semi finals, the teams' positions on the table remained the same, with Avalanches winning the Major semi final 11-3, and then Toecutters beating The Scourge in Minor semi final 4-3, before losing to Sunflowers 8-4.

The Avalanches and The Sunflowers, as both Quad Team descendants, played off in the Grand Final, the former winning 6-3. Having won both 2009 competitions, Charlie Rogers announced the disbandment of The Avalanches that night at the [[2009 Winter Buce League Awards|2009 Winter Buce League Awards Ceremony]]. The Sunflowers' future remained in question, while The Scourge, Toecutters, Blek and Novice would continue into the next league. Scourge was growing so fast that like [[The Quad Team]] and [[The Front Team]], they announced a possible split in 2010, while The Hawks announced that captain [[Nick Allan]] would be moving to the Buce Asia Cup and leaving The Hawks in the hands of ex-captain Michael Read.

After the 2009W League the [[League Balance Strategy]] was concieved and implemented, leading to the formation of new, strong teams such as [[The Giants]], [[The Wu-Tang Clan]] and [[The Snowflowers]] for the [[2010 Buce League]].

2009 became the first fully functional media year for Buce, with media coverage of all official Buce matches, broadcast through Youtube. BuceTV became the official media body of Buce and hosted its own Buce related news broadcast, [[National Buce News]], which became immensely popular for spreading the sport among potential players.
